Part 1: The Promise and the Betrayal**
In a secluded village, a grand stone house stood as a testament to the decades of relentless labor by its patriarch, Lolo Tasyo (Don Anastacio Delos Reyes). Tasyo, once a simple but shrewd farmer, had built an empire of land, sacrificing everything for his only son, Romy. When Tasyo’s wife passed and his health faded, he handed the titles to all his vast properties to Romy, asking only one thing: *”Never abandon me in my old age.”*

Romy promised, but the promise quickly dissolved under the influence of his city-bred, materialistic wife, Selina. To Selina, the presence of a frail, sometimes incontinent father-in-law was an embarrassing nuisance. Tasyo was gradually moved: from the master suite to the guest room, and finally, to the maid’s quarters.

**Part 2: The Iron Cage**
When Tasyo began losing control of his bladder, Selina raged. *”Romy! Your father stinks! Get him out of the house or I will leave!”* Fearful of losing his wife and blinded by greed, Romy consented to the ultimate cruelty.

In the backyard, beside the trash heap and the chicken coop, Romy and Selina installed a small cage made of welded scrap iron. They led the weeping Lolo Tasyo to it. *”It’s cooler out here, Dad,”* Romy lied, placing a thin, old mat inside. Tasyo’s protests were met with Selina’s cold fury: *”Stop being dramatic! You stay out here so you don’t mess up the house!”* They slammed the metal gate shut and padlocked it.

Tasyo’s life became a living hell. He was fed scraps in a plastic bowl, often forgotten for days. Exposed to the elements, starving, and filthy, he withered, his only company the stray dogs that sniffed at his cage. The neighbors knew, but the couple’s influence kept them silent.

**Part 3: The Birthday Feast**
One day, Romy hosted a lavish birthday party. The mansion overflowed with politicians, wealthy friends, and extravagant food. Lolo Tasyo, confined in his cage, could hear the laughter and smell the aroma of the feast, though he hadn’t eaten in two days. *”Romy… my son… just a little broth…”* the old man weakly pleaded, clinging to the bars.

In the midst of the celebration, a convoy of black luxury SUVs arrived. A formidable man in a tailored suit and his entourage of lawyers and NBI agents approached the couple. This was Attorney Victoriano, the personal counsel for a mysterious, powerful billionaire.

“We are here to locate Don Anastacio Delos Reyes,” Attorney Victoriano stated, ignoring Romy’s extended hand.

Romy stammered a lie: “Don Anastacio? I am Romy, the owner here. My father, Tasyo, has been under the care of an institution for a long time due to his illness.”

**Part 4: The Discovery and the Arrest**
Skeptical, Attorney Victoriano produced a court order and demanded a search. Following faint sounds, agents discovered the metal cage behind the house. They found Lolo Tasyo—emaciated, covered in grime, and curled up in his own filth. The police quickly broke the lock.

When Lolo Tasyo was brought to the front of the mansion, Romy and Selina paled. Attorney Victoriano was weeping. *”Is this the ‘institution’ you spoke of?! You caged your own father like an animal while feasting on his wealth?!”*

Selina tried to argue *”It was for his safety! He was aggressive!”*

Attorney Victoriano produced a single document. “You committed the crime of illegal detention and severe abuse against your benefactor. For your knowledge, Don Anastacio is not merely a farmer; he is the ‘silent owner’ of the largest agri-business corporation in this region. The land you thought he gave you was a **Conditional Donation**—revocable upon an act of ‘gross ingratitude’ or abuse.”

Romy and Selina stared in horror.

Lolo Tasyo, finding a new surge of strength, spoke clearly for the first time: *”You threw me out of your hearts, so now, I am throwing you out of my home. I gave you everything; you made me an animal.”*

“Effective immediately,” the lawyer announced, “Don Anastacio is revoking all assets. This house, the cars, the bank accounts—all of it is seized and returned to his name.”

The police chief arrested Romy and Selina for Serious Illegal Detention and Abuse of the Elderly. As the couple were dragged away, Romy screamed for forgiveness. Lolo Tasyo watched them with tear-filled eyes. *”Pity is for those who make mistakes. Punishment is for those who commit malice. You will learn inside the cage.”*

Lolo Tasyo was taken to a hospital to recover. He later sold the traumatic mansion and donated the proceeds to charities for the elderly. His last years were spent in peace and dignity, a powerful reminder that parental love is boundless, but ingratitude always comes at a steep, irreversible price.
